Short description

Sindnova was founded in 1984 on the initiative of the Italian trade union confederation Cisl and its industry federations in the private sector as a tool for research, study, training and information from the point of view of employee's participation in the life of companies.

Constant attention to European issues brought SindNova to operate in a transnational dimension: this fundamental experience permitted the setting-up of a Europe-wide and international network of experts and correspondents. The Institute can count on a consolidated and experienced staff and an articulated structure of specialists and researchers and on stable co-operation with universities, national and international research institutes, not only within the trade union world.

SindNova receives a basic financial contribution by Cisl. The rest of the budget is fed by external projects such as commissioned by local, regional, national and EU administration, but also by delivering training or studies to enterprises etc.

Areas of expertise and competencies

More than twenty years of project and research activity traced a clear profile of the Institute through the development of distinctive aspects and specific competences in the fields of:

1) Industrial relations, forms of employee representation practices and contents of collective bargaining, information and consultation rights, social dialogue and European works councils, financial and economic participation of employees; technological and organizational changes in companies; jobs, skills and professional profiles.

SindNova puts a special accent on the situation in new member states of the EU and/or the candidate - countries (mainly Bulgaria, Rumania and Turkey) because of the high amount of investment in these countries by Italian companies. The main aim of SindNova is to facilitate the development of labour instruments in these three countries.

SindNova has been involved in the EWC negotiations in Italy right from the start and has now a solid experience and expertise on this issue.

2) Working conditions, health and safety on the workplace and environmental protection.

SindNova delivers regularly training at a number of enterprises.
