AFI-IPL (Arbeitsförderungsinstitut – Istituto Promozione Lavoratori) was established in 1995 in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy. The main purpose of its activities is to improve the professional, economic and social conditions of workers and employees. The labor environment could have strong effects on the workers life thus the topic “quality of work” and its effects should not be underestimated. Therefore AFI-IPL concentrates on doing research in this field. Additionally, AFI-ILP supports social organisations and labour unions (trade unions) with its knowledge and its expertise without compromising the independence of contract negotiations. The institute has a strongly committed team and a quality management system that both ensure a high quality of research.

Work programme, strategic plan, projects
AFI-IPL's key mission is to conduct inter-disciplinary research on labour market problems. Based on this research, policy-oriented recommendations are formulated. In addition the institute wants to encourage the Social Dialogue. These activities result in various outputs: research reports, articles, recommendations, contributions to seminars, education and training as well as participation in policy advice working groups.
The institute has 10 employees and most of them are researchers. Beyond that AFI-IPL works also closely with more than 3 external consultants.
In June 2008 the institute successfully obtained the “quality” certification in research, consultancy, training and publication according to EN ISO 9001:2008.
