TURI Working group wins EC grant
The TURI Working group on wages and collective bargaining has secured a grant under the European Commission’s Budget heading 04.03.03.01 Industrial relations and social dialogue for a project entitled CAWIE – Collectively agreed Wages in Europe. The project, scheduled to begin in January 2012, will run for a period of one year.
By investigating the strengths, weaknesses and challenges of the current statistical system used to keep track of collectively agreed wages in Europe, the project is intended to improve the ‘measuring is knowing’ dimension of European policy-making on wage formation and collective bargaining. The study will provide an in-depth analysis of existing data on collectively agreed wages and methods of data collection and will look into recent development of collectively agreed wages in comparison to actual wage developments. It includes national studies on ten European countries (AT, BE, FI, FR, DE, IT, NL, PT, ES and UK) as well as comparative and synthesising studies at European level. The results will be presented at a dissemination conference in Brussels involving social partners, EU institutions and representatives from national data providers.
